Labour’s Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill will help protect children from abuse and is being voted on today. The Tories are voting against it after 14 years in office failing to tackle sex crimes against women and children. They failed to implement the recommendations of the 7-year national inquiry into crimes against girls which reported in 2022 and rape prosecutions plummeted during the Tory Government. I asked the Prime Minister about Labour’s agenda today at PMQs and am glad that the public voted for a Labour Government in July committed to halving violence against women and girls. Labour action on this issue against all perpetrators will not be delayed or derailed by anyone attempting to politicise this sensitive issue.
