On 3rd December I asked the Metropolitan Police to investigate covid rule breaking in Downing Street.
Johnson initially lied and claimed there were no Downing Street parties. Then he ludicrously claimed all rules were followed. Then he claimed the wine and cheese parties were work events. Then he blamed staff. Then it was suggested he was ‘ambushed with cake’.
It was obvious to most people that the rules had been broken but the civil service inquiry and public pressure eventually led to the Met finally investigating multiple incidents.
Now, people are finally being fined for breaking the law for attending the Tory bashes whilst most people made sacrifices and followed the rules. They should be named and no Minister should stay in office if they broke the rules and lied to the public and Parliament to try and deceive their way out of responsibility.
