Today we take time to say thank you to everyone who has served, and continues to serve, in our armed forces today to honour and remember their sacrifice in the service of our country.
We should also thank the 40,000 people who have volunteered for the Royal British Legion in their centenary year for the Poppy Appeal 2021 – raising millions for our veterans.
Our local area holds a very special connection to the Royal British Legion as their headquarters are based near the Elephant and Castle and the original poppy making factory was just off the Old Kent Road, employing injured veterans from the First World War.
