Relatives of people in Southwark are still trapped in Afghanistan, two months after it fell to the Taliban and despite the UK Government having 18 months to plan their evacuation.
I have been chasing a meeting with the Minister for Afghan Resettlement for seven weeks to discuss them and the people the Home Office have put in Southwark, some of who I met this morning with Cllr Alice MacDonald and Cllr Darren Merrill (pictured).
Today in the Commons I asked the Minister to finally get the meeting with me in our diaries and to include Southwark Council and other organisations trying to provide local support.
