Today is World Arthritis Day – a day to raise awareness across the world of the existence and impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. The debilitating effects of these diseases, of which more than 200 exist, are little known; their impact, however, is silently felt by many.
In the UK 650,000 people are currently waiting for trauma and orthopaedic treatment in England. The vast majority of people waiting for life-changing hip and knee replacement surgery in this category are doing so because of arthritis.
