The Government was slow to act in bringing people stranded aboard back home. I first raised the issue of constituents being unable to travel in an urgent question in Parliament back in March. It took two weeks for the plan to repatriate them to be announced. Whilst many have been brought home after long, anxious waits – due to poor communication, there are still a number of people who have been unable to return. I have written to the Foreign Office to ask them to do all in their power to bring them home.
