Yesterday I visited the ‘Young Marketeers’ Harvest Sale at Borough Market. Months of hard work has gone into today, including learning to grow a whole range of produce from seeds at school! It was fantastic to join local schools trading the fruits (and veg!) of their labour. The event is run by School Food Matters whose mission is to ensure every child enjoys fresh sustainable food at school and understands where their food comes from. The money raised goes to good causes and the pupils even had the chance to ring the historic Borough Market bell to open their stalls – a tradition which dates back to 1757!
