Today the Supreme Court confirmed that Johnson acted illegally in stopping Parliament from meeting. This shocking abuse of his position means he also misled the Queen all in a petty, weak attempt to avoid scrutiny and answering any questions about his dangerous and damaging Brexit plans. I was one of the petitioners for the Scottish Court’s challenge and am glad this judgement has been upheld. I hope that the Government will respect the decision taken today and get Westminster working again ASAP.
Johnson needs to stop ignoring his lack of mandate or majority and start listening to the Commons. MPs were, collectively, elected by over thirty million people and he needs to be accountable to us as the people’s representatives. Johnson also needs to stop threatening the UK with No Deal which would humiliate our country internationally and cause deep harm for British people unable to access food, fuel, energy or medicines to the level we need. The message from the courts is get back to work Johnson and stop trying to lie to the people.
