I am delighted that TfL have today announced the expansion of the Cycle Hire scheme from Tower Bridge to Canada Water. There will be at least 5 new docking stations initially, with more to follow. This will open up access to the scheme to thousands more local people, help tackle air pollution and allow people to reach Southwark Park using the bikes. This follows the success of this summer’s pop-up Cycle Hire docking station in Southwark Park, which I was very pleased to support.

Last week we also saw the announcement of £80 million for improved transport infrastructure in SE16. This and the expansion of your Cycle Hire scheme wouldn’t have happened without a huge amount of cooperation between Labour-led Southwark Council, your Labour Assembly Member Florence Eshalomi, City Hall, and myself – Labour is working hard to make SE16 greener and cleaner.
