I am delighted that after years of campaigning, the Treasury have committed £80 million to improving transport infrastructure in SE16. This will mean a new entrance at Surrey Quays station, improvements at Canada Water and help to reduce overcrowding on tubes and local buses. This will make public transport better for local people and hopefully unlock over 4,000 new affordable homes.

I have been calling on the Government to fund improvements since I was first elected in 2015. The bid was submitted by Sadiq Khan as Labour’s Mayor of London with support from Labour-led Southwark Council and our London Assembly Member Florence Eshalomi AM – so it is a real team win from your local Labour representatives!
