Last week I led a debate on the need to reform the Mental Health Act drawing on family experience. I secured a promise from the Minister that the White Paper plans to reform the Act will be published later this year. When Parliament returns I will press the Government to honour this and match rhetoric with action on the issue.

I was pleased to hear the Minister also recognise Southwark Council’s commitment to have 100% access to support for children and young people locally. Shockingly, the national ‘standard’ is only 35%. Charles Dickens Primary School also got a special mention for its excellent work. Clips of the debate are below including the Minister’s responses. The full version of the debate is online.
