Home Office advisors have told the Government that the Metropolitan Police requires much more funding to meet the demands of policing our capital city to cover major demonstrations, sports events and visits of foreign dignitaries for example. I asked why this vital funding was being withheld given it could provide thousands more officers. The Minister did not know sadly, but has promised to write with further information which I will share as soon as possible.
