The Government spends millions on employment programmes which the National Audit Office and DWP admit cannot prove they help anyone to work.
In an urgent question on 28th March 2019 I asked Ministers for councils and other devolved authorities to get more resources and responsibilities to run more effective programmes better tailored to local communities. The Minister seems to think it is a good idea and I hope he will now work with Southwark’s Labour council on its ‘full employment borough’ plans.
