I met with London’s Deputy Mayor for Transport, Heidi Alexander, this week to discuss progress on the Rotherhithe Bridge. The new bridge will run from Durrand’s Wharf in Rotherhithe to Westferry Circus, Canary Wharf on the north bank of the Thames. The new pedestrian and cycle bridge will provide a much needed crossing for people living and working on both sides of the river and should reduce pressure on tubes and local buses.
I am pleased that the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, is making this bridge happen. There has been huge support for the proposal locally and I hope the public consultation on the next stages of the bridge development is published soon – and urge everyone to respond!
