The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions told the select committee on Monday that the DWP is launching a new pilot to test how people are moved onto Universal Credit. This is five years after rollout of the system began, including here in Southwark, with all the known costs, delays and damage to people’s lives we have seen.

I asked the Director General of Universal Credit what he would have done better or differently if he could restart the rollout and given the damning report of the National Audit Office on his record. He did not admit anything had gone wrong sadly, as you can see in the short clips below. Denial runs deep in this failing Government.
