Since 2010 the Government have cut councils’ budgets by 49% but passed extra costs onto local authorities. More than 50,000 British born children of parents legally in the UK are now denied national Government help but made reliant on councils. One local primary school has had 40 children affected by this ‘No Recourse to Public Funds’ crisis and London councils were forced to spend £53 million on these children in the capital last year through emergency social services. The Government are ignoring the problem and the deep division and destitution it is causing. You can see my question to the Leader of the House on 14.02.19 below.
